Quality & Safety Management
Integrated management system for quality, industrial safety, object safety, ecological management and similar topical areas.
Methodical and Technical Challenges
In many national and international represented companies a certificated quality management system (based on the ISO-9000 norms) has been a definite component in management infrastructure for years. However, compulsory specifications demand more than one management system of many companies in the area of quality & safety management:
-
Quality management (QM) after ISO-9000
-
Worker protection f.e. after OHSAS-18001
-
Environmental management by ISO-14000
-
Sustainability management / CSR Management (Corporate Social Responsibility) after ISO-26000
-
Other company- and branch-specific regulations
Identification of regulative contexts
For the development of a methodical approach a company first has to analyse all relevant industry standards and norms and their scopes in the company thoroughly. Especially with companies that are represented in different countries and markets this analysis turns out to be very complex, because here country-specific norms have to be considered.
Integration of management systems to reduce complexity
The management systems mentioned above show considerable redundancies that could easily be reduced. Instead of using several different systems the complexity is reduced effectively through an integrated management system for synergies. For this the integrated management system infers the various specifications from the norms and standards, adjusting them to the different norms. This way an internal management system with the intersections of all relevant norms’ specifications is obtained, although it is still possible for the system to report of each of these norms.
Efficiency awareness in the conducting of management systems
The conformity with the standards and norms should be evaluated regularly in central or local self assessments. Certain standards require additional audits which expand the self assessments with an objective snap-reading method of the current conformity.
If specifications are found which are presently not completely covered new methods for accomplishing the designated standard will be defined.
Results for certification and management
The results of such a management system are primarily assisting the management with decisions, controls and supervision of quality levels. Additional support is provided through reporting, especially graphically edited for management, which visualises the current status, possible methods as well as critical development and therefore creates a basis for decisions. During the certification process an integrated management system reduces the complexity and efforts for the staff by providing information for the auditors, after having already documented all important information including its processes within a central system.
Solution description
risk2value® is a system for the flexible representation of integrated management systems for quality and safety management.
-
risk2value® allows to define the scope of the management system in various aspects to report the results aggregated by processes or organisational units.
-
The redundancy-free modelling of individual standards’ specifications and their applicability on business units is achieved through the possibility of connecting the specifications of various standards. Through these connections similar specifications, which are partly shared by two or more standards, are only rated once which reduces the complexity and efforts considerably.
-
risk2value® enables the evaluation of the implementation status through the use of selective self assessments in the respective scope. This way, irregularities and need for action can be identified, methods planned and their implementation supervised. Additionally, information about the documentation of the internal and external audits’ results is added through risk2value®.
-
All information are integrated in a central management system reporting to be standardised through different views which provides the management as well as the auditors with their required information. These reports can easily be adapted to the exact information needed by individual internal and external stakeholders.
